I remember replying to a topic on racketboy a while back concerning Xmas-themes in games. Not sure if that was completed, but I'm much more interested in Halloween-themed games. Please contribute what you can to this list; as long as it contains nighttime levels with large moons, skeletons, graveyards, zombies, pumpkins(jack o'lanterns), ghosts, etc., it'll probably count. Castlevania and Super Mario Bros. (Boo ghosts) probably wouldn't count IMO. Better left to an 'honorable mention' section, although we can debate these and other titles. (I couldn't find a list like this on tha intarwebs, so if one exists, please let me know.)
Halloween-themed(items, levels or whole games with a Halloween theme):
Banjo-Kazooie
Diddy Kong Racing(?)
Gauntlet Legends(might belong in honorable mention)
Luigi's Mansion
MediEvil(series)
Cotton(series)
Honorable mention(Halloween puts you in the mood to play these[likely to include most survival-horror games]):
Castlevania(series)
Alone in the Dark(series)
Resident Evil(series)
Silent Hill(series)
American McGee's Alice(?)
Legacy of Kain(series)
Blackthorne(?)
Demon's Crest
Devil May Cry(series)
Doom(series)
Draconus
Ecstatica(series)
Eternal Darkness
Evil Dead(series)
Heretic/Hexen(series)
House of the Dead(series)
Manhunt(?)
Ghost 'n Goblins(series)
Maximo(series)
Nightmare Creatures(series)
Shadow Man(series)
After going through my games, I was surprised that most would fit into the latter category. I figured there would be more with direct references to Halloween...Oh well. Untapped potential for games here!

Well the game Bully has a time where you play the kid in a Halloween costume and you do tricks on people.

The Video Game Critic has a Halloween game guide up in the extra section.

I'd have to vote for Friday the 13th on the NES. Not only was it kind of scary when Jason showed up on the screen, but how many video games now days essentially end when all the children have been murdered?

Just thinking about playing Friday the 13th on the NES chills me to the bone to this day.

SPLATTERHOUSE. even though you would probably consider it an honerable mention, since its just inspired by horror movies instead of being a "boo! haunted house!" game

Well, it's a pretty good guide, he brought up a lot I wouldn't have thought about, but I say he loses points for not bringing up Sweet Home. I wouldn't have faulted him if he'd just talked about games released here, but he mentioned another Japan only title, so I think it must be said. He also forgot Clock Tower: The First Fear, though again...Japan only.redmachus wrote:The Video Game Critic has a Halloween game guide up in the extra section.

You forgot Gex 2's horror-themed levels, with their twisted portraits and psychotic surprises.
