VGA Questions

Post by erixon »

Hey guys,

I am just in the process of hooking up my computer with my LCD TV. My computer has a TV-in, so I figured I'd move it into the living room, hook it up to the VGA port on the TV, hook up my satellite receiver to the TV-in, that way I can watch my movie files without burning discs, and watch my recorded stuff on tv, play the odd pc game on the TV. I know I can have the computer monitor and the TV hooked up together, and switch between the two when I want to, but I wanted to know this: I have VGA output for my 360 that is presently being used by my TV. Is there any way to have this hooked in inot the computer, so that it can either be displayed on the tv or the computer? Like some sort of VGA input dealie? I am starting to get confused, because if this is the case then I can't go on the computer if I am playing Madden or something. Does anyone have any other solutions?

You need a VGA switch box, it would do the trick. I can't think of a easy way to pass the video from your xbox360 though your computer with out having a very expensive video capture card. So if you just want to use 1 VGA port on your TV for your computer and 360, I would suggest a VGA switch box.

This one is kind of ugly.. but you get the idea

Isn't there a quality loss when using one of those? Anybody know how noticeable it is?

I guess it depends on how well shielded the thing is. It looks pretty rubbish so it may be bad.

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.
