How Do You Organize Your Games?

Post by racketboy »

Do you have any specific organization techniques?
Or do you just throw everything in a box?

I'm still pretty messy right now since I've been moving so much.
I need to get some shelving too.

I'm hoping to get some interesting ideas...

I have all the games I "might" play on a normal basis in a 79 slot CD wallet. I have the rest in a fiew 200+ CD binders. I have all my old carts in rubbermade boxes, but they don't move do to emulators. The only carts that get played regularly are my NeoGeo MVS carts, they are just fun. I keep them actually in my arcade cab ( 10 or so of them) so I can just swap them in and out of my two slot MVS.

I got all the old carts and systems in giant rubbermaid containers up in the closet. Video games are sort of a guilty pleasure. I really love playing them, but I don't want nobody that comes over to see the Sega museum in my room.

I store my games anywhere out of sight: drawers, boxes, bags etc. I used to put disc games in binders but now I prefer to keep them in their original cases (since my cases/manuals occasionally seem to disappear )

I purchased an oak cabinet from Best Buy that has 24 drawers. I keep all the silvers in paper holders with an Avery label on the back and file by system. When it get's full I plan to buy another and just stack them. I have a metal rack next to my desk with 10 systems all hooked up with switchers running to a samsung GS. This way I can test any game before I add it to the collection. As I get old favorites I move the system into the movie room and put it on the Hitachi 57" widescreen. Currently replaying Magic Knight Rayearth on the Saturn and Dark Wizard on the Sega CD.

I thought it was a silly idea until I saw the labels on the cabinet doors -- it is pretty neat, haha. It's like a post office of games. =P
