Model 1 Sega CD sound problems

Post by DuncanIsaac »

I have a model 1 Sega CD connected to a model 2 Genesis. I'm using the stereo audio outputs on the Sega CD for sound, but I only get sound when I am playing Sega CD games. When I play Genesis carts i get no audio. What do I do? Any idea what what's wrong?

Ahh I am pretty sure that the model 1 has its own sound. So you need another av cable for your genesis. Yeah I know its a pain but ehh its early 90's technology.

Well I hoped that helped.

Oh and you are a lucky person with that model 1 sega cd :).

Yeah i found it at my local game store for $20.00.

I have another AV cable for my Genesis and I still don't get any sound. Do I have to unplug my Sega CD anytime I want to play Genesis games with sound? Please say no.

This is not a recomended method. The model 2 genesis doesn't fit to well on the model one sega cd. I'd recomend going to a few thrift stores and picking up a model one. I usually find them for around 5-7 dollars at goodwill or salvation army. If you can find one with "high definition graphics" by the cart slot, thats a good model, although any will work.

That being said...

I was thinking there is a way of running you sound from you model 2 genesis through the av cables to a adapter like this one:

http://www.amazon.com/3-5mm-Dual-Stereo ... B000VX1CXK

Then hook that into the mixing jack in the back of the sega cd, it's between the av out and the ac adapter hook up.

It would be optimal to use the model 1 in this setup to go out of the headphone jack an be able to contol the volume level of the genesis sound.

Here is a good guide!

hope that helps
