Looks like we'll be getting them with the motion controls, a-la Metroid Prime 3. It'll be interesting to see how they handle the visors and the beams. I'm guessing it'd be Metroid Prime 3 style where you hold down - to select visor, and probably + to select beam. I can't for the life of me remember what the + is used for in Prime 3, but I'm guessing it's something that can be just as easily done with 1 & 2.
Here's hoping they also make it widescreen.

Calling these "remakes" is way too generous. How lazy can you get Nintendo? Seems like just a lame way of keeping the hardcore base on board with their console, especially considering all the GCN versions of these games work on the Wii.
Guess we'll have to see what "budget price" actually means.

At least in the case of the Metroid Prime series, I know several people who didn't like the handling of the GC versions, but really enjoyed MP3. So at least for those people, this is a welcome release.

What angers me about this whole Gamecube to Wii quickport plan Nintendo has for probably countless titles, is that Nintendo seems to be forgetting or ignoring the fact that the Wii can already play Gamecube games.
Why cant they just reprint the gamecube discs? And if control upgrades are in order, why not just soft-patch them in? You could probably store new control information and button decals for the GUI and any other needed texts, all inside a very small patch file which could sit on the Wii's internal storage, and then the Wii main menu could load the information prior to booting the gamecube disc.
It just seems like they are letting all the gamecube hardware and ports in the Wii go to waste, not reprinting the classic games. It's seriously hard to even find gamecube games at any store I go to, which surprises me, because I was quoted as saying the success of the Wii would surely revive gamecube software sales. I guess not.

I think the deal is that most of these newb Wii owners have no concept of anything like backward compatibility or patches. They don't know what a "gaming cube" is. N knows this, and exploits it.Mozgus wrote:What angers me about this whole Gamecube to Wii quickport plan Nintendo has for probably countless titles, is that Nintendo seems to be forgetting or ignoring the fact that the Wii can already play Gamecube games.

The budget price should be $20. But N will price it at $30. And will sell lots. They really are brilliant business people.

Re: Metroid Prime 1&2 Wii Remakes
I feel cheated because I already bought many of these games, only to have enhanced versions on the way a few years later!
C'mon, Nintendo! Among all of yesterday's great announcements, this one stood out as a piece of crap.
btw, I'm not saying I'll buy the new ones or anything, but I will be grumpy about it.

I'm going to compare these MP 1&2 remakes to RE4: Wii Edition
RE4: Wii Edition added Wiimote control+PS2 features for $30
now, since I suspect that MP 1&2 will be straight ports with Wiimote control, I'd say that if Nintendo puts both MP 1&2 both on one disc/package for $30, that's a fair price...

I don't know why they didn't relabel and re-promoted the best GC games as Wii games for launch.

I'm going to take a wait and see approach. If the improvements they make are worth the money, then sure I'll buy them. They were great games the first time. Hopefully they'll improve the games enough that I'll want to buy them.
I'm sure we've all bought reissued games because of new content. (i.e. Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, etc

I think Skies of Arcadia is the only one I've really re-bought so far....DuncanIsaac wrote:I'm going to take a wait and see approach. BTW, you kinda have to look at the relative success for RE4 Wii Edition. Certain games it makes sense to re-issue if you add useful features and make the price reasonable.
