So who's buyin'? http://kotaku.com/5057884/get-a-good-cl ... at-the-dsi
I like the bigger screens and the potential for "DSware"~
 (FC, AVFC, NES, SFC x2, SNES, N64, GC x2, Wii x2)*(G&W x7, GB, GBpocket, GBASP, DS-L x2)
(GEN, SS x3, DC x3)*(PCE-Duo)*(Xbox:500GB)*(NGCDZ, NGPC)*(PS1, PStwo, PS3:160GB, PSP.3K)

Yeah, the big screens sure look nice.

In the vid I saw the carts are different, is this a new system or just a DS with bits added on?

From what I read is a DS lite without GBA slot, better audio, bigger screen and a camera. It lets you put an SD card in so you can take the photos out with ease, and you can edit the photos in it as well (I assume with some simple effects, not anything advanced).

It seems that the DS lite has better battery life, but maybe that is because the bigger screen takes more juice, or maybe the brightness is increased in each setting.

I wouldn't be using my DS for taking pictures, and it's nice to use the GBA slot once in a while... Also having the lens of the camera in the lid sort of defeats the point of having a clamshell design.

For now I'm not interested in one, but I can imagine some games taking advantage of the camera (maybe a new Boktai game, now with the camera detecting brightness levels instead of UV?) that could make me want to have one down the line - but maybe I'd want a PSP before getting a DSi when I already have a DS.

Yawn. I have a DS lite with a flash card, and still barely play the thing (my wife likes Picross a lot, though).

Gain with DSi:
3.25" screen (instead of 3" screen)
SD card slot
camera from 1995 (.3 MP)
slightly thinner unit (but longer and taller)

Lose with DSi:
GBA slot
Battery Life
Flash card capabilities?

The move from the original DS to the DS lite was much better. I think I'll keep my DS lite instead of picking up one of these new ones.

Maybe the DS Lite will get cheaper now, for those of you who've been holding out.

I still have my old DS phat (great for GBA), as well as a DS Lite (which has my flash card on the GBA slot) and a PSP. So the DSI really holds very little appeal for me. The only thing that might convince me to buy it would be some good DSWare, on the level of Mega Man 9.

Why did they have to remove the GBA slot? They do realize they've just shat all over Activision by doing that after they went out of their way to use it for Guitar Hero DS? Otherwise it looks kinda neat, may hold out on getting a Lite for one of these and get a Game Boy Micro for my GBA games. Only problem then is I wont be able to play GB/GBC games...but I hate the GBA SP design...but I want a backlit screen...bah, curse you Nintendo!

I play GBA on my DSes as much as DS so I dunno... I suppose the question is not if I buy it, but how long I wait.

it will also now include a .3 megapixel (640x480) camera.
thanks but no thanks. Unless it has some tie in with a game that is a really useless feature. Most modern phones have a better camera than that. I think my FIRST cell phone had a camera that size.
For digital delivery purchases, there is a DSi Shop, from which users can download DSiWare from. Pricing categories for the DSiWare are: Free, 200 points, 500 points and "Premium" or 800 points. Customers will get 1000 free points to spend at the DSi Shop that are good until March 2010.
The dsiware seems attractive, but knowing the quality of the wii ware makes me skeptical. They would really have to wow me.

I'm sure i'll own one eventually. You know- once i can get it for 20 bucks used in 10 years.

Fuckin' fail. Like I'm going to pay $50 more to lose access to half the god damn game library, just to take shitty low rez photos and listen to barely amplified music. No thanks. It's like GBMicro all over again. They don't learn.

Exactly my thoughts. What a waste. I'm not surprised by it though.
