Just got a new Arcade Cabinet... How to take care of it???

Post by alexjames01 »

I just finally bought my first Arcade Machine: Altered Beast. Sure it's not the best game in the world but it was in GREAT condition and plays flawlessly. It needs to be cleaned up a little and the base needs a minor repair but that is about it... not bad for $100!

Anyway, this is my first (of soon-to-be many) arcade cabinets. What should I know about taking care of it?

Should they be left on or off? Whats better? Any other tips would be well appreciated :)

First, i love your avatar.... second i would be worried about burn-in if you just let it set ''on'' all of the time

Burn in is the only problem I would worry about, except you probably already have a lot of burn-in. Don't want to make it worse, anyhow.

Believe it or not, its not too bad. I think there was a replacement monitor put in about a year ago and it was in a collectors home since.

Thanks for the tips guys!

I'd say don't leave it on all the time. Only have it on when you think it's likely to be used. CRTs suck up electricity and their quality fades with time.
