Games you must play
Games you must play
Hello everyone ,
I am sure we have seen many lists of games that are supposed to be the TOP 10 ever and so on, but I guess its really hard to measure a game due different tastes of people
what you hate I might love
But lets see if there are 5-8 games that when you played you were so impressed that you thought if any new person to videogames comes along, he should play THIS game. Which ones should they be?
obviously these games should be very different, because if you have 3 RPG's on the list, its kind of getting repetitive and boring.
I can now swear that super mario would be on everyone's list.
I didn't play too many games to decide, but as starters:
*Super Mario
*GTA: San Andreas
*Ninja Gaiden Black
I thought Ninja gaiden gave so much action and beautiful experience , thats its unmatched. You really live like a Ninja!

Re: Games you must play
A person new to videogames, eh? Well, that might be a bit hard to judge since the average new gamer has a relatively low skill level and attention span, and is generally only impressed with the newest graphics... but as far as videogames that have impressed me immensely, and I literally think that everyone should play because I believe they would enjoy them...
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles
Metal Slug
Snatcher
NiGHTS into Dreams
Panzer Dragoon Saga
Soul Caliber
Crazy Taxi
Jet Grind Radio
Guilty Gear X
Cosmic Smash
Marvel Vs. Capcom 2
Rez
I love games like ToeJam & Earl, Ristar, and the Shenmue and Ecco the Dolphin series, and as an odd one-off Nintendo title, Super Mario World: Yoshi's Island, but they're total mixed bags for some people.
Yes, I'm a Sega-whore. Metal Slug, Snatcher, Guilty Gear X, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, and Soul Caliber are external properties, though.

Re: Games you must play
For RPG's Lunar is probably my favorite of all time.
but if your into any newer stuff i thought eternal sonata was amazing.
also resident evil 4, maybe not a groundbreaking game but some of the most fun I've ever had.
I have to agree about guilty gears.
I think that alien homnid and castle crashers make for great games for someone new to video games, they are accessible, fun, and they let you know that 2d still exists.

Super Mario Bros. (NES)
Street Fighter II (SNES)
Ultimate Doom (PC)
Super Mario 64 (N64)
Starfox 64
Soul Calibur (DC)
Resident Evil 4 (GC)

Re: Games you must play
hmmm... right now i would go with
platformers: psychonauts, mario 3, original toejam & earl (if that could be considered a platformer), crash bandicoot 3 warped.
shooters: lightening force IV (haven't got far in it yet, but it rules!), 1942, contra, metal slug anthology. I'm just now getting into shmups so this list may change.
rpg's: I seriously can't pick just a few here. the list would be too long so i'm going to leave this one.
fighters: tekken 3 or 4, soul caliber, powerstone. i havent given too many 2d fighters a chance, but i will probably start checking some out. i just got the fist of fury and art of fighting collections for ps2, but havent played them yet.
puzzles: tetris, dr. robotnix mean bean machine, and i am enjoying lumines right now as well

Newcomers would probably focus on presentation and the fun factor, which is why any of the following would be typical choices
- Resident Evil 4 - I'm not fond of it but it seemed to be popular among new gamers.
- Wii Sports - Possibly the most universally-acceptable game since Tetris.
- Rez - A musical on-rails shooter which would appeal to many people.
- Shadow of the Colossus - The first colossi is probably still impressive enough for unsuspecting gamers.
- Densha de Go!/Railfan - Train games are a love or hate affair, but it remains a perplexingly relaxing experience!
- Rhythm Heaven - This game will be BIG if it gets enough exposure
- SingStar/Rock Band/Guitar Hero et al - These games are designed for most people if they're willing to play on plasticky instruments!
- GTA IV - I personally would never recommend this game, but there's no denying the impact of GTA on mainstream sales.
- Big budget FPS and Sports -

- The Sims and Spore - Very attractive options for female gameplayers, but don't expect them to cling on for too long.

Re: Games you must play
Oh, and by all means, Power Stone 2. New gamers adore Power Stone 2.
My list is enormous now.
And Samba De Amigo.
I need to shut up now.

Super Mario World-easy enough to get into, but also has the added challenge of multiple exits for those who want to take it a step further.
I agree the Wii Sports is a very accepted video game and good for non-gamers. When I can get my 60 year old dad to play a video game and have fun, it has to be accessible to newcomers.
Any of the Mario Kart games. The colorful graphics make the game seem more accessible, and the way the game helps the last place racers would help newcomers.
Chu Chu Rocket is my favorite puzzle game ever, and one that I think has deep strategy yet is easy enough to pick up and have fun with.
I've never really played the Sims, but my non-gamer wife loves it, so there must be something there.
I realize I sound like a Nintendo fanboy, but I guess Nintendo games seem a little easier to pick up to me.

Re: Games you must play
Must play for someone new to games? I'll do it by common systems funnest games with the easiest entry level i can think of.
Joust (Atari 2600)
SMB3 (NES)
Sonic 2 (Genesis)
Super Mario World (SNES)
Crash bandicoot (ps1)
Mario Kart 64 (n64)
Soul Calibur (dc)
Guitar Hero, karaoke revolution, Final fantasy x (ps2)
Mario Party 6 (GC)
HALO (xbox) though im a sing playe rperson i prefer doom 3
Metal Slug (wherever u can find it neogeo, saturn, xbla)
Bust-A-Move (ps1,dc, arcade)
Bejeweled (cellphone)
Honestly i'd say party games and platformers are the best entry.
edit:
I hate GTA, its hard its complex, its ugly, its boring etc etc etc. and as for Ninja Gaiden good choice, but i'd vote devil may cry (first one) first.
Edit2:
Chuchu rocket should not be played by anyone with heart problems. Raises my blood pressure and tension levels to the sky, great game.
