I found this at a thrift store this weekend. There's NO brand name or other identifying mark on it anywhere. It's obviously styled to look like a Playstation 2. It has 9 pin controller ports like Atari/Sega. There's a cartridge port on the front of it, but it doesn't fit anything I've tried. SMS/MD/NES/SNES/Atari etc, none work. It has A/V RCA ports on the back, and a DC in port, but no indication of voltage or polarity. Oh, and the entire unit is extremely light.
Any ideas what this thing is?
What is this thing?

What does the cart slot look like? Pin count etc... (Can't see inside on the current pics)
BTW, do you have any DVD-Rs?

That's...interesting.
Re: What is this thing?
Looks like a PolyStation 2. A Famiclone in the shape of a PS2... I can't really see what the slot is for but I imagine it houses Famicom cartridges.

Re: What is this thing?
I found out why it's so light, it's virtually empty. There's not an integrated circuit in the thing.

Yeah, that's an NOAC (Nintendo-on-a-chip) if I've ever seen one.
Re: What is this thing?
What you have there...
Is a piece of crap. Congratz!
Rip the NOAC out and make a handheld or something.

Yeah I didn't figure it was worth much of anything, only paid $.99 for it. Still an odd thing to find in a thrift store in the middle of Kansas. That cartridge slot is not wide enough to accept NES cartridges, were famicom cartridges a different size?
I also got a couple Saturn controllers there for a buck each, so it was a worthwhile trip to the thrift store.

Yeah Famicom carts were much smaller, just look it up on Google! They are pretty fun t use and it's a much cheaper way of getting a working Famicom than buying an old red and white Jap model. I'd keep it like that and sample some of the import goodness that we missed out of in English speaking countries!

If you need any ideas as to what to get I can help you out there. I'm sorta racketboy.com's unofficial go-to guy for Famicom games.andymol21 wrote:Yeah Famicom carts were much smaller, just look it up on Google!
