A bunch of technical GBA questions

Post by Ivo »

I put this in the emulator section as I didn't figure a better place for it, not all questions are emulator related.

1. Is there any way to get a save file created in an emulator into a GBA flashcart? That may depend on the cart, but is it possible? For reference I'm wondering if I could transfer a save into an EFA (those purple transparent plastic carts)

2. About GBA link cables, do they work with all GBA models (GBA to GBA SP, for example?) or you can only connect same model?

3. How do gameshark / action replay 2 / action replay 3 work, is there a way to attach special carts (I'm thinking Boktai carts) into them (consider the non-standard shape).

Now if you are interested, my goal is getting all emblems in Boktai for the GBA. To do this I would in principle need to link up to get them. I'm trying to work around this as I don't know anyone here that has the game. My first idea was to use the codes for the emblems in an emulator, put them on a friend's flash cart, link and get the codes into the real cart. The other way would be to directly "cheat" them into the real cart. Another option is to get another Boktai cart and play (twice?) to get the other 2 to transfer into the main game, or if I'm lucky maybe I can somehow get a cart from someone who already got all the emblems.

The SAV files on the VisualBoyAdvance emulator work fine with my EZ Flash II Powerstar cart. Every cart has different software though so its hit or miss.

your second question works if they're nintendo brand cables they should work magically but if your cheap and bought madcatz you might need to cut the ends off the end. I've done that before and its worked fine
I dont think there would be any reason the action replay wouldn't work on boktai or else the cart wouldn't be able to fit into a gba at all
