I'm sure plenty of you have already heard the news, but it's been a while and I still haven't seen a thread about it. So, just a heads up:
Pier Solar Beta Demo is out
Can now pre-order
I'm going to skip the demo, personally. I'm sure it'll be worth the wait.

Re: Pier Solar
Actually I'd try out the demo. I was thinking this would be great fun....but so far it's just so-so. I'm going to play it more and see where it goes.Pingfa wrote:I'm sure plenty of you have already heard the news, but it's been a while and I still haven't seen a thread about it. So, just a heads up:

Re: Pier Solar
Yep, already did. Was quite tired and I was curious.
My impressions were akin to yours, but that's one of the reasons I wanted to refrain. You can only rate RPG games very loosely based on a few minutes of play; generally, the genre isn't known for being a pick up 'n play experience.
In addition, if I go through so much of the demo, I'll have to repeat the experience when I get the full game.
So I played briefly, browsed a few houses and the like, tried to get into the feel of it... but that's all.
Lastly, I'm making a personal note to have no expectations beforehand. Naturally, if you go in expecting flying pigs (not literally, of course
) then you'll inevitably be disappointed.

Re: Pier Solar
It's been on the Sega-16 forums for quite a while. I just saw the updated website yesterday. For being completely fan based it's pretty dang good. It looks really nice and I'm sure it's got more to offer than the demo, but I really disliked the slow pace and the equiping system for weapons and items.
Being fair though, it seems on par with many of the 16-bit era rpg's and it's only 35 bucks brand new. Not too shabby really.

I think I'm definetely going to pick this up and support more games like this in the future. Always interested to see what individuals can do when they've got a dedication to certain project. Seems like the Pier Solar team has put alot of love into this game.

I agree. I really like the cut scenes with snapshots of certain characters, too.ott0bot wrote:It's been on the Sega-16 forums for quite a while. I just saw the updated website yesterday. One thing I don't like, is that when you go onto the menu, there's a black border around it - however, that may just be temporary. There are a few things which are just temporary for now, but will be changed before official release.
Regarding the slow pace, I believe it was 108 Stars from Sega-16 who said he convinced the team to add a run button, so I assume that will be present in the final version.
