Which Out-of-Print Gaming Magazines Were The Best?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Which Out-of-Print Gaming Magazines Were The Best?

Post by racketboy »

Most old gaming magazines were geared towards kids, but looking back which ones broke the mold and actually had good information/journalism in them?

It's not out of print, but it's definitely changed over the years. I'd say Nintendo Power's first year or two, back when they'd release strategy guides. I always thought that was pretty cool of them, and I subscribed for several years.

It's not geared towards consoles, but Games for Windows/Computer Gaming World was pretty cool. :)

My favorite console gaming mag to this, day though is Expert Gamer.

I too remember EGM being better in the old days.

I didn't read that many issues of Gamefan, but I always saw stuff in there I hadn't heard of before. It really exposed me to some new stuff and it had a different voice to it than other magazines.

it had the cheats for like everything! it sure serves what its meant to be for

i agree with the posts above about gamefan...by far, the best console gaming magazine ever...

EGM used to be better off, but it's still decent IMO...

The best one for my money was the UK magazine Super Play which catered to SNES and Super Famicom reviews. Excellent and intelligent articles, humour and a great source of reviews for obscure Super Famicom games.
