So I joined the ranks of the few...
the proud...
the brave...
the Xbox 360 modders...
Got my 360 opening tool and replacement fan in today. Went ahead and opened up both of mine(for those not in the know, one has a faulty drive and the other is RROD). I swapped out the drives and the drives' circuit boards and switched the fan. Now I've got a bunch of spare parts and a working 360! Took the time to do some updates, spent a minute or two playing Virtua Fighter 5, and checked to make sure the new fan was working. Oh man, it pumps hot air outta that machine like a champ. I put in a Whisper 360 fan, with blue LEDs. It's very nice.
Now my biggest issue is that the disk drive is loud. It's not as bad as some 360s I've seen and I realize that raising the volume will cover it, but it's just annoying. Not much I can do about it, though. I was thinking next I'm going to order the rubber strips to prevent it from scratching my game disks, had to move it and noticed the buzzsaw sound when I did. Also a new faceplate and maybe a case...or that chrome hard drive shell. That would be pretty cool...
Got a new toy..

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.
