New Console: Mattel Hyperscan

this system doesn't interest me at all. maybe that's because i'm not a tween
i'd put my money on "failure". the e-reader scheme didn't work out all that well (i worked at gamestop when it was first released) and i don't think the scanning idea was ever big in the states. however, right now in japan it's pretty big from what i can tell. kids love to play the mushi king and dragonball z arcade games where you scan your card for characters, powerups, blah blah blah - and if i'm not mistaken, you don't even control your character (most machines i saw had only a single button). "tweens" and even older audiences really do look up to japan these days, so if they marketed this thing as "the hot concept from japan" it might see success - for a little while
