Who do you think had the best E3 2008 showing?

Post by Flak Beard »

I really enjoyed Sony's conference, and thought they had some pretty good stuff to show. At the end of the day though, I feel like this year belonged to Microsoft. Gears 2 looks phenomenal and there are some top notch retail and XBLA coming out this Fall. MS had the most "materialized" games that people could actually get their hands on. Things like the partnership with NetFlix and a multi-platform release of FFXIII created some pretty big thunder for MS. As far as Nintendo's goes, I feel like their conference isn't even worth mentioning. Pretty abysmal stuff on their part.

So who do you think had the best showing and why?

And Ryan, let's keep it civil here buddy.

Nintendo's really disappointed me. The most worthwhile announcement, GTA Chinatown Wars for DS, was just a sentence while they spent most of the time trying to convince me to buy even more peripherals for the Wii. I'm planning on getting Animal Crossing, but I'm not buying the mic. I'm tired of spending money on peripherals.

I totally wasn't even paying attention. So far, this current generation hasn't really grabbed me, you know?

Gears 2? Great, more roided up meatheads sounded like morons. I'm sure everyone will love it for its super graphics though, which was pretty much all the original had going for it

I'm more excited about FFXIII coming out for the 360 since I don't have a PS 3

Nintendo's made me plain angry. Do they not realise only hardcore gamers watch e3? Yet they show only announce a new Wii Sports and Wii Music on their home console...

Sony's was a real suprise for me. They almost seemed a joke after FFXIII being announced for 360, but the message they put across with the little touches showed that they're concerned about what matters to us: games. I loved the way they used Littlebig Planet to show figures and stuff, it made it so much more interesting than just ranting on about them. Sure, Microsoft may have announced a Mii ripoff and Singstar ripoff, and Nintendo may be bringing out games for middle aged women, but Sony showed us that they are making big steps to really make their mark on the gaming industry. 256 players per game? Wow. Just wow.

God of War 3 kinda got me excited and MAG sounds very cool but its something that I would never really get into. I think microsoft won it for sure. Enough to make me want to pick up a 360.....

Dont worry lol. Putting my fanboyism aside and even asking my Xbox and Nintendo owning friends, most of them said that Sony's was the most interesting HOWEVER, many of them were falling head over heals for Gears 2...

Heres my personal favs.

LBP
GoW3
Gears 2
Killzone 2
Resistance 2
Resistance PSP...

and lets not forget Motorstorm 2

The only thing I really care about is Rock Band 2. So Microsoft wins
