It is pretty cool, except when audience members notice that you rock a DS on stage (lame). Nothing says tasteless more than gaming consoles that yearn to be music hardware. It's still cool, but I would not let any of my friends see me recording with it.

If I want to make electronic music, I'll just get me an 8080 and code in assembly.
