playstation ilink

Post by nickfil »

trying to play time crisis 2 and 3 with the ilink i just realized that my slim ps2 doesn't have an ilink cable port.

is there some way to get around this? I don't really want to get 2 fat ps2s. I have had nothing but problems with them and have gone through quite a few.

Just out of curiosity, what problems have you had? I still have my fat PS2 from a Gran Turismo bundle I got back in 2001. Should I expect issues in the future?

i had one ps2 from release date that died in 2003ish It stopped reading dvds and then stopped reading games.
Since then i kept trying to get fat ones from gamestops but it seems like they would work for 3 or so months tops before dying in a similar way as my first. First the dvd player would go then the ps2 discs wouldn't be read.

by the by- is there an easy way to fix this? i tried using a lens cleaner disc, and it didn't work.

You might not ever have problems philexile- I'm just saying from my experience i have. I'm sure that people drop off consoles that are acting funny to gamestop before they crash too.

I'm assuming your getting the good ol' Disc Read Error. Easy fix. I've done it to several PS2's and even gotten people to pay me for it (suckers!). Basically if you open up your PS2 and take the cover off of the CD drive and slide the tray out you should see a little white gear. What you do is click the gear one click one way, then put the cd cover back on...start up ur ps2 and test it. If it doesn't work keep clicking the gear one click each time til it works. If after like....idk...15 clicks start going the other way. Usually I've found that i just have to click it 2-3 times and it works. After I've done this with several PS2's, I've yet to have any probs with em. If you don't get these instructions I'll try to post some pics if I got the time.

yeah- i heard about the clicking gear thing before. I haven't ever tried it though.

I'm going to see if i can hunt down some old fat playstations for cheap in the next couple months. If i get disc read errors and can't fix it on my own, i'll say somethin. Didn't know it was that easy.
