Dreamcast Rez Soundtrack samples... !?

Post by lordofduct »

Ok... I've downloaded some remixes of the Rez soundtrack along with ripping via analog audio cables the 5th level onto my computer. On top of that I've also purchased the OST online and just got it today in the mail and I'm thoroughly enjoying the mixes that are on that (Fear is still my fav track of them all!!!!).

What I want to know is does ANYONE know how to rip the actual audio off the disk in the Dreamcast audio format and convert to wav or something so I could do my own mixing with ableton? I've got a ripped version of the game so I have access to the files on the CD... its just what files are what? and how can I play with them!?

That or point me in the direction of the sample?

If it's even possible that is.

I havent looked into it, but I always assumed the music data on the Dreamcast game was sequenced. The music's individual beats can be changed in the game, after all. I doubt that it's streamed and rippable.

actually they can't be... the actual tracks beats are layered by the level of the area you are in. There are 10 layers to the song until you get to the boss where it is completed. Throughout the level there are extra beats that are layed ontop of the actual song that you access by shooting the enemies in different patterns.

And those are what I want... I'm wondering if each layer of audio is available... so I can play with it.

Ok so its a mix between sequenced and streamed. Whatever. The actual "music" folders in on the disc are definitely sequenced stuff, and even have a few terrible sounding midis. Dunno what to tell you. Rez's disc is made up of a ton of files with extensions I've never seen before.

I want this game!

Post by CircleK »

I have heard that it is impossible to import this game correctly on the Dreamcast.

Is there a region patcher for DC rips, and if so..........

My sons' name is Reznor, we call him Rez for short, I have been a huge Sega fan back to the Master System, and I heard that some members of the Panzer Dragoon team developed this game. I purchased my Dreamcast 6 months in advance (in my hands at midnight 9/9/99) so it will play burned CD's.

What are the other options to get this game?

get a mod chip and a legite copy. The DC modchip is merely to defeat region blocks as all dreamcasts can play backup copies.

Get the DCX disc (it does the same as the modchip, but requires a disk swap).

or download a region swapped copy. I have it on my server, I am days away from completing my server and I will be setting up and FTP site for it. I'll let you know when if you want it from there.

You may want to try to find some PS2 PSF versions of it. May not be the exact same ( as I am unkown of the differences between the two version) but it mya get you what you want. You could most likely do it yourself if you try it this way :D

edit

this place may have what you are looking for...

Is this it, or do you have it already?
btw, if I can't post this, sorry! It says its from the actual game itself, so its not like it was ever sold...at least not in america...

What? Are you saying there's no Selfboot rip of Rez? Or that you need it specifically PAL or NTSC? I've seen both ISOs floating around, so I know that rumor isn't true. I personally have an NTSC rip somewhere.
