Xbox softmod gone wrong

Sweet. A friend of mine just gave me a broken xbox with 10 games(including shemue 2 and outrun2!) but it doesnt work cause he messed up a softmod. Is there anyway to fix this? Ive read that putting a modchip in will do so but I cant find any reliable stores that still have them in stock. Any alternatives besides the chip?

The only info he gave me is that it had multiple partitions and he deleted something off one of them that was apparently important.

Well, If it's possible to replace the HDD on an Xbox with one out of another broken X-Box, I'd recommend that.

I think I've got a stock Xbox HDD around here somewhere, collecting dust..

yes!!!! I have been reading up on this xbox mod stuff since i got it and have used a program called Xplorer360 to make the HD readable after I hotswapped it to my computer. Im just waiting for a download of the dashboard(pretty much the xboxs system software) to finish so I can restore it to an original xbox.

The internets a wonderful thing.......

it was just hanging on a black screen after the xbox logo went away, but it worked successfully! He also gave me splinter cell(for the softmod he messed up) and ive made a xbox to usb cable and trying to get the softmod thing going again. I cant get the action replay software to pick up my flash drive though.......

i have a softmod kit available for rental all ready for the xbox, very user friendly.

well I guess during my hotswapping madness I managed to corrupt the harddrive. Damnit.......Oh well it was free so I guess I cant complain too much. I guess the only way to fix it now is to intall a modchip so I can use any harddrive right?

give me till monday and I might do that. I went by a local pawnshop today and this guy is going nuts cleaning his inventory. I bought 7 untested genisis systems and the neo geo game blues journey for $5!!!! I asked what else he had and he took me into the back room where about 50 broken xboxes are and about 50 broken ps2s. i might be making some serious cash if I get a good deal but he took my name and number and said he will call me on monday after he talks to the other guy that owns half the store.

A lot of 17 broken ps2s recently went for $510 on ebay.....
