Anyone else love comparing home ports to arcade games?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

For instance take Street Fighter arcade and compare it to the SNES version. SNES to Genesis etc.

Like the diff be graphics, sound, color etc.

I for some reason love doing this.

I suppose I enjoy it if they're like polar opposites, but if the changes are subtle/insignificant then it's pretty boring, I guess.

I get a kick out of them as well. Once I get caught up on all my series, we'll have to start doing more of them here.

I think I'm on the other side for this one; I don't like comparing them unless they are very close...I like finding the incredibly small differences. :)

I find in general I'm let down a good bit when I compare arcade or even Genesis ports to my SNES ports, so I tend to avoid examining the differences. Instead, I'll just try playing the game on all versions.

It's interesting to me to see how much an an arcade game's essence gets retained in console ports. I especially love seeing a company look at what they can't bring to the home version, and find ways to compensate. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time on the S-NES wasn't arcade perfect, but was arguably better. For every little detail they couldn't retain from the arcade, they added something cool or tweaked something to make the console version better.

I actually think the game would have been much less awesome if it HAD been an arcade perfect port.
