Mega CD Problem...

Post by ADaggerThrough »

Firstly, hey: I've been a lurker here for a bit now but have come out of solitary hiding place.

Right, so, today I got myself a (untested) Mega CD II delivered from eBay. I attached my Mega Drive II to it, plug 'em in and powered the Mega Drive on... nothing. Nothing lights up on the Mega CD (is anything actually supposed to?) and I can't hear the CD spinning. I've got an RF lead plugged into my Mega Drive, do I need an AV lead in the Mega CD instead?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

If it's untested, it's most likely busted. I've never owned a Sega CD, but on most systems like that, it's real fishy if the disk doesn't spin.

Ah yeah, I kinda figured. XD I've read around (meaning I looked at the Mega CD 1 thread here) and have deducted that it's probably a dead fuse. Guess I'm gonna have to take it apart. Ah well, it's already buggered - I don't reckon I could do too much more damage, haha.

I use a model 2 genesis with a model 2 sega cd and I run an a/v cable from the mega cd to the tv for my signal. Also you need an ac adapter for both the genesis and the mega cd. If the disk isn't spinning it may be the belt. It's just like an old discman, same set-up inside. If it's the fuse check this out for some help.
