i personally enjoy ZSNES and SNES9X

It's hard to see how ZSNES couldn't be the best.
If each mistake being made is a new one, then progress is being made.

Well for some some games, the sound emulation quality is better in other emulators, which is why I don't use ZSNES exclusively.

Never heard of ZSNESGT. Trying it out now but it wont load any roms. Says could not load image.

SNESGT I believe doesn't support zip files unless you place the unziplib file in there but I have my stuff unzipped anyways.
Try comparing the sound in the Konami games and early Nintendo-made SNES games. They sound much closer to the actual hardware IMO.
