Should we delete and ban these silly common Ebay posts?

Post by claudio »

maybe its just me, but im tired of people posting silly eBay links stuff on this website for common silly things and games.

unless its something rare, esoteric or uncommon that we need to post out to peoples attention since there will be a limited time span it will be on ebay, i say ban/delete these silly ads.

example:

hey guys, i posted my sega saturn with 9 games on ebay, go check it out!

and then we go on ebay and see its a sega saturn with 9 bullshit games that we can find in our neighbors garbage.

soooo...unless something common like that is posted for direct sale on here, we shouldnt have to go on ebay to get something we all know we can get every freaking hour of the day on ebay.

thats the point, we come on this website to find direct good/decent deals on these common things to buy directly from buyers, ebay is there and everybody knows about it.

i dont think people post ads on ebay to go on racketboy's website to buy a copy of daytona usa.

i can go on and on but im sure you guys/girls got my point by now,

so please vote in my poll, and i would like to hear your opinions

lol -- I guess it started with some valid ones and then eventually it got out of hand.
I may add it to the rules and start deleting posts that cross the line.
The BST section is intended for sales that AREN'T on other sites like eBay.

Now if you are an established member and you really have something cool/rare and eBay is the best place to sell it and you want to clue everybody in, that's still fine, but keep this in mind.

I think people post their eBay auctions on this website to give us an advantage. Plus I'm sure people don't want to be at risk of being scammed by some internet prowler and on eBay this is very uncommon.

I agree though that the items that people post should be rare and uncommon unless it's their item.

I thank everyone that posts their ebay auctions on here...just for that fact, hopefully...i see it first. What is bullshit to someone could be WOW! to someone else. I think its kinda fucked up to delete what someone is selling just due to the fact its nothing to you. Just like ive said before when people bitch due to someone asking "to much" an item is worth what a person is willing to pay for it. Just cause you dont wanna pay...lets see, 10$ for a sega saturn daytona USA...doesnt mean someone else wont. Just my 2 cents, which isnt really worth that....but i do send a thank you to everyone that posts ebay auction giving me and anyone else on here the first chance and shot at winning the auction :D
Yep, I know im the one ya love to hate.

yeah, im definitly for people informing us that they are selling cool and esoteric stuff on ebay or other websites and even large collections.

to lost_within, im just tired of looking at these ebay links that ends up at being common everyday stuff that you can just find on ebay,
just my opinion anyways, like i said ebay links that are for nice collections, rare esoteric games are very respectful to post here (in my opinion)

lets see what this poll ends up being in the end.

Gotta vote no.

I understand that this can become abusive, but I don't think it is "all out of hand" or anything... on this site.

I agree with Lost in that I appreciate the heads up on people's ebay postings. Really, I would prefer to buy an item from one of my fellow Racket members, even if there are millions of that item for sale on ebay.

From what I've seen on this site, people are pretty curtious and post pretty responsibly.

If I end up going through all kinds of trouble, dragging my mouse all the way to that distant thread link and mustering the strength to click it open, only to find that somebody is selling the common Daytona USA for saturn... ... ...

I would probably just get over it because it's not that big of a deal and doesn't happen that much!

I agree with most of the other guys. Sure, some of this stuff seems a bit useless, and it spams the Trade forum pretty often, but then again it gives me a heads up on what everybody's got, regardless of how much I may want it, and it lets me trade with guys that I find more trustworthy about handling games than the average Joe.

Plus, it's a good way to get people's eBay info, as some of us may have eBay accounts different from others. I know I've saved a few "stores" from guys on here, because I'd much rather deal with you guys then folks I've never spoken to before.

I think they should be deleted unless someone is at least 8-bit. So many newbs post an auciton once and never come back. It is nice to have a notice sometimes though, but it is annoying. I'm on the fence, but i have a possible solution....

Maybe we should have and ebay only sticky in the BST forum. If it's not posted there then POW! delete! Hows that sound?

I usually like the ebay links, even more when its something I want coming from someone with like 5 posts but good bay feedback. I don't really find it abusive or bothersome, a rule could be made to add ebay to the title if some people are really bothered by them.
