desert island

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

desert island

Post by grittykitty »

does anyone else think about what things they'd bring if they were stranded on a desert island? (other than a boat, helicopter, water filtration system, etc). i'm always trying to slim down my possessions in a weird, almost obsessive sort of way and i ask myself what things i'd bring with me. i guess this applies to not just the desert island scenario, but moving a lot/roaming in general. i'm getting weirder by the day

as far as game systems go, i've always thought of dreamcast as being the system i'd have if i could only choose one. with all the emulation possibilities, ability to play burned games, and alter your general state of being it seems like the perfect choice. but in more practical sense (i don't need to play THAT many games) i might have to choose the ds. since it's got a port of link to the past (my favorite game of all time) it's practically a shoe-in.

non-video games aside, i'd bring my tape walkman since it's got a built-in speaker and microphone. that's aside from clothes and hygiene items, mind you.

what would you bring?

A modded PS2 to play both ps1 and ps2 domestic and import games, of course that would be useless if there were no TV and electricity. As for music, I would bring an iPod because I can store all my music in there. Maybe some good books to read. For survival, a machete to cut things up and for protection from the cannibalistic natives.

Definetily music, some sort of solar powered mp3 player I guess, might keep me from going crazy for a little while.

As for videogames, I agree on the DC, deserted islands would end up getting boring after a while, so the more games the merrier.

Some sort of knives or a bat with nails or something to hunt food, some pots and pans wouldn't hurt either.

Is taking a girl allowed? :P

Pen and paper or a recorder to use as a journal, perhaps someone reads it and finds my adventures amusing as I slowly lose my mind

For some reasons, when you said "some pots", I was thinking about the other type. It's a good idea nonetheless, don't you think. Makes the loneliness bearable. Anyway, I was also thinking about taking a girl too, but I don't think that will count as your own possession or else I will take the hottest girl with me.

several girls and a pc with a net connection.

Why several? Well all would be rotated for conjugal reasons of course.

However the dwellign I construct will need cleaning. The food I kill will need gutting and cooking, the electricity generator wheel will need someone to run on it and so on.

well, i was referring more to material, non-living items you would bring. but since i didn't specify, i might have to change mine to a girl as well... but if i'm not taking music, she'd have to be able to sing well and know a lot of my favorite songs. if she could make nes sounds too, that might be all i'd need

It'd be interesting rescuing a guy and a girl who speaks in blips and bloops

A cure to the gas crisis and a reliable president. They would find me.
