Hey guys, I received a letter yesterday informing me that I have officially been accepted into the University of Alabama's graduate school to work towards my MLIS degree! I graduated in December from Auburn University with a B.A. in English with a History minor. So I want to know, what level of education have you guys received? Did any of you attend trade schools, community colleges, universities, drop out and get your GEDs, or what?
Also I'm pretty excited about going back to school, but it also makes me nervous. I've been living in the same town for nearly nine years, and I lived in the town before that for eleven. While I have lived in Tuscaloosa before, that was twenty years ago...any of you guys live in or near Tuscaloosa, Alabama?

Congrats man. Went to Professional Pharmacy School for 6 years but it just wasn't for me. Went back to school after that and got my BS in Psychology just last year. Now I am just trying to apply to a Master Program and maybe go for a Ph.D. after that. I am getting older and might want to have a family so Ph.D. is just a maybe.

I graduated from the University of Michigan, also with BA in English and a history minor. I did it in four years, finishing when I was 21 and without any sort of plan as to what to do next. Fooled around for a couple of more years (got married, bought a house) before deciding to go back to school to get my teaching certificate.
Since I wanted to teach elementary school it was practically like starting over. I needed 82 more credits (only took 120 for my degree) for certification. Banged those out at Eastern Michigan University in two intense years.
About five years ago I earned my Masters from Walden University through a distance education program while teaching full time. That led to a hefty 15% raise. Yay me! Walden is an accredited school, as opposed to a diploma mill, but the program wasn't very demanding. Then again I wasn't in it for the prestige, just the cash money.
And now I'm done and have no plans to ever be a student again.

Following in your mothers footsteps I see.
I have a degree in Food Science and Hospitality Management, but think more schooling is in my future. If someone was paying for me I would go for Paleontology (namely Paleozoolgy), Entomology, or a Masters of Food Science. But I have seriously looked into studies at both Horology schools and Seminaries.

Congratulations on Grad School. Thinking of going back myself to Master in History, not in the mood at the moment though.
To answer your question I graduated 3 years ago from Western Michigan University with a BA in Public Relations and a business minor. Got that first "real job" right out of college and ended up in the middle management ranks fairly quickly. Also ended up hating every minute of my life for about the last 2 years. Recently quit about 4 months ago and have never been happier.

As for me, I have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems with a e-Business Systems minor.
I was Computer Science and Graphic Design the first three years of school until they split the CS major up.
If I was to get more education, it would be in Business, but I learn more on my own with this site than I would in a classroom.

I went to college to get a degree in Graphic Design, but never finished. I started getting freelance design on my own and eventually a full time job with a company. My boss could of cared less whether I had a degree, they just looked at my portfolio. Funny thing is, not a single project I did for school was in it. What a waste of money that was.
