It's one of my favorite Sega CD games. I did a review of it a couple of years ago:

I'd still love to hear your take on it though.

Re: Silpheed
Has anyone had issues with Silpheed freezing? I just picked up a copy at a local game shop. The disc had a couple of scratches that look like they could cause problems, but the shop has a return policy, so I thought I would give it a shot. The game played fine until I continued on the third level. The level started to load, but then just froze. I'm thinking this was probably caused by the scratched disc, unless this is a common issue.

I had the same issue on the third level just this week when I decided to play it for the first time in a long time. Odd. I was playing on a CDX. Anyway, I just used the level select code to jump to stage 4 so I could continue the game. I haven't had additional problems yet.

Nope, I have a Sega CD 2. I was able to start playing level 3 a couple of times, but then after this particular continue the game froze after loading the HUD.dsheinem wrote:I had the same issue on the third level just this week when I decided to play it for the first time in a long time. Re: Silpheed
It took me 3 copies to get a working one. The first 2 only had light feathering and didn't look bad, but would freeze on me. Not until the pristine 3rd copy did it work for me. Not sure if its just the SCD being finicky, or if Silpheed maybe had pressing issues.
