Point and click adventures(think scumm), hack and slash, run and gun (which i guess includes FPS along with the metal slug type), arcadey racing games (mario kart, burnout etc), and turn based strategy.
Don't that just look oh so tasty?

Action/adventure, racing/driving and platformers.

Overall, I'd say aside from sports and driving games, I really need/want a good story to drive the game along.

Shmups are my favorite(vert and hori), but like a quality action/adventure or strategy rpg here and there, a nice 2d platformer with depth is great, and a good 'ol beat 'em up is always fun. Every once in a while I can get into a good fighter, but I really need someone to play with to make it fun.

My favorite genre growing up was always fighting, shmups, and RPG/Strategy. They still are today, though shmups is by far my favorite now.
