Thats cool and all, but it seems really unnecessary for that little room. You could get an amazing sound without spending 6 million dollars. Plus, a ps3. All that for like 3 good games. Just kidding...

I think what everyone is missing here is that setup supports full cinema scope, and with that sound system it's arguably better than any cinema. Especially considering that it is set up to focus on one point in the room rather than everywhere (a la cinema).

I saw that on Digg years ago, there's a ton of other home theaters on the page as well.

Plus the guy who posted that has just hot linked all the images... I hate that.

Same here. That's just plain rude. It's almost as bad as plugging an extension cord into one of your neighbor's outlets.

You're not the only one... Besides, kids keep making new ones and there's no way to keep up.

I remember seeing that guys house a while ago and I think the only thing that had me puzzled was, all of the speakers are rather close to the movies/records or whatever is on his shelving... It looks really hard to get to anything let alone sit down in the center.

I too noticed the FSC lens on the one projector. Quite cool. I can't agree with the Sound System though. Four things are apparent to me.

First, the sound system is WAY too much overkill. There are no movies, games, or music medias that warrant such an extensive sound system. Even DTS HD and Dolby Tru HD aren't high enough in quality to warrant such a system.

Second, there isn't a commercially available Videogame, Movie, etc that can use anything close to what this person has, which I would assume is close to or more than THX's 10.2. Honestly, you'd be making something out of nothing and it wouldn't really aid in making a surround sound environment.

Third, For such a tiny room, you could never get perfect sound accuracy, especially with all of those extraneous speakers. I mean, for 5.1, you need a big radius to get 100% accuracy. For 7.1, you would want something even larger. For this setup? You'd need something around like a 20 ft radius around you for the sound waves to not interfere with each other as they approach your ear.

Fourth, for such a nice setup, he honestly doesn't have a big enough screen. For 6 million, you could buy a whole house and make it into one giant theatre. That means something along the lines of a 30-40 feet. 20 ft does not cut it for something that expensive.

I agree. It does seem like overkill. I must've glossed over the point where it says 6million! Wha?! 6 Million for that?! How? Why did it cost that much? That looks like £250,000 of equipment at most... And that screen... Not as big as it could/should be at all...

I'd rather have built a huge house and ultra-high quality home theater and still have money left over for a pool at 6million... Hell I could do that for £2m...

I've seen studios with 2 live rooms (one for small orchestra and one for band space) and ability for true 7.1 mix at professional level (we're talking 192kHz 24 bit High Definition recording) that have cost less than than 6 million...
