Help burning Dragon Force

Post by winds »

Hey guys,

I have downloaded and burned about 6 or 7 different roms of Dragon Force (US) from different sites and can't seem to get it working. All the roms work with emulation, but don't seem to work on my actual modded Saturn. I have a model 2 saturn and have burned and played about 30-40 backup games flawlessly, so far dragon force is the only one giving me trouble. When I insert the cd into the console, it goes to the CD Bios page and says "Checking disc format" then the cd stops spinning and nothing happens. I am using Nero and have tried burning at 4x, 8x, and 48x, but nothing works. Any idea whats going on? Again the cds work with emulation just not on the saturn, so I wouldn't think it could be the rom or the cd im using.

Have you tried using the Saturn Region Patcher? IIRC, the app has a feature that checks your disc images.

Yeah I tried burning a PAL version to work on my saturn and used the region patcher, still no luck.
And I may have to resort to buying a copy sometime down the road, moneys tight right now and that game isnt cheap. Also, this has turned into something more than just playing the game now haha. I need to know why this game is cursed into not working!

Have you tried different branded CD-Rs? I know you said you did many successful backups, but it never hurts to buy a 10/25-pack of a different brand and try those.
Racket has an article on his site that tells of a modder's experience modding his Saturn to read CD-RWs. Maybe you can try that so you don't waste CD-Rs.

Cheers, thanks man. Ill try a different brand of CD-Rs first. If thats a no go then ill try the CD-RW hack, sounds easy enough.

Geez, still no luck with either of those. Keeps coming up saying "checking disc format". This is a real puzzler.

What format have you DLed them in? Where are you getting the disc images from? Try DLing the game in bin/cue format from underground gamer.

I have been downloading them in bin/cue format. The places I got them from are:
Emuparadise
SnesOrama
Mondemul
and
Rom Hustler
