50hz Gamecube Problems

Post by andymol21 »

Well I just got home last night from my trip to the UK with my new purchases of Pikmin and Metroid Prime for GC. My Gamecube is an early Jap model that’s been hard modded to act as a US NTSC model, and I use Freeloader to play PAL games (convoluted I know). Just tried to boot up Pikmin on my large LCD screen downstairs and it was all in black and white, seems that the way I'm converting from all the different regions I'm getting a NTSC signal at 50hz, which apparently is stupid and wrong. All other Gamecube games I've ever used have had secret 60hz modes that I didn't even know about, but Freeloader automatically set up for me. Seems like I'm going to have to buy a PAL Gamecube to get my Pikmin working, or maybe this is the perfect excuse to buy a Wii.

can you use teh GC component cables? if you can usually you dont need to worry about the PAL/NTSC stuff if you can use that.
