If you could have any three arcade cabinets in perfect condition, what would they be?
(Don't think about price/value, etc)
Mine:
X-Men 6 Player
Either Street Fighter Alpha 2 or Street Fighter 3 Third Strike
Daytona USA 2 Multiplayer

Ah -- Neo Geo Cabinet. Didn't think of that one -- it's almost like cheatingCerulean wrote:Any quad neo geo cabinet. X men 6 player. Ridge/Rage Racer.

Focusing on titles only (without using the Neo Geo trick
), I reckon I'd go for special controller cabinets (although in some cases I can reproduce that at home without the cab). Those are what I always played in the arcades. Light gun games are the prime example (I have a Saturn with 2 guns now).
Although I'm not a huge fan of driving games, I'd probably get one with proper pedals and wheel or something similar.
If it counts, I'd go for a quality, mechanical pinball table (I hear they don't even make them anymore
). If it doesn't count (and it probably doesn't), I'd have to think a bit more on the third. I'm resisting picking Bubble Bobble, as I love the game but I'm probably too used to non-stick controls by now, and I don't really need a cabinet to play that in "all it's glory" (that goes for most "regular" games controlled with arcade sticks, as I don't really like arcade sticks for control as I'm not used to them).
For specific title choices, I don't really know but I think I'd go for the SEGA light gun game of most replayability (probably one of the House of the Dead). I also like Namco's Time Crysis, but Sega always appealed more to me; for the driving game, I might actually go to this flying cycle game that had the pedals and all - but as I never played it I don't know if it's good enough. In any case, I'd surely research a bit more before a final decision
Ivo.
