This came out near the end of last year and I'm just discovering it now. If you haven't seen it, you really should. Great animation, characters, beautifully choreographed action, and a surprisingly mature, adult story line dealing with Japanese history and culture, gender issues, revenge, honor, bigotry, xenophobia, sexism, and philosophy. The writing surprised me a few times going in directions I didn't quite expect. The voice acting is excellent and the way the show uses music is phenomenal.
The show has one of the most compelling protagonists I've ever seen in an animated series.
It's also got more than a few nods to Kill Bill. I'd advise going into this blind, trailers spoil too many things these days and the first episode ends with a preview of things to come that is sort of like a trailer anyway.
