Games similar to Metroid

Post by cabrando »

I'm a big fan of the Metroid series, particularly the 2D versions. I'm finishing up the GBA ones now, but have beat the others and have nowhere to turn to get my fix. So I was wondering if there are any games with similar gameplay from any generation I should look for next.

Castlevania games are almost exactly the same principle.

Hence the almost :P

You can't honestly say that they're not similar.

I don't get as much of a Metroid vibe as some people claim. Phantom 2049 is at least a bit close since you're shooting and such.

Im with racket the phantom 2040 game was hugely unapreciated by some people feels the same as metroid and I was a huge fan of the series. Liked the drawings.

About 10 years ago I was at my then job, and my boss showed my a box of a PC game that he said was more or less a metroid clone. The game then was probably 5 to 10 years old, as it looked pretty much like a dead ringer for metroid 1, could even turn into a morph ball!

I can't remember what the game was and I've tried looking online every now and then. Does this jog anyones memory, anyone know?
