Trouble burning DC games in BIN/CUE format

Post by Gary_Oak »

I got a couple of Dreamcast isos over at Underground Gamer that appear to be in BIN/CUE format, I found this strange because Dreamcast images usually come in the CDI or MDF/MDS format.

I burned one of them with Nero Burning ROM to try on my DC, but it didn't work, with and without boot disc (the Utopia one).

Then, I tried to burn the same image with BootDreams, as it seems that the program accepts CUE files as well, but everytime I start the burning process, the command prompt screen simply disapears in less than a second and BootDreams tells me that the file was sucessfully burned (and ironically nothing was burned at all).

And basically that's just about it, I'm completely out of ideas on what to do, but I'd be very thankfull if someone could give me a hand here please.

PS: Sorry for asking for help in my very first topic guys.

Just look for CDI versions of those games. If you know your stuff, you can rebuild a selfbooting image from most bins, but it can be very tough, especially if you need to downsample them first to make room for the selfboot region. Just dont bother. Nearly all of those BIN/CUE games have CDI versions floating around somewhere.

Those 1 click solutions rarely work, especially if the bin is already quite large.

In my experience, a lot of the 1 click solutions create unreadable image files, meaning that emulators cant load them, and daemon tools or other programs cant mount them. They're made for burning and nothing else.

If he has a lot of CD-Rs to spare, he might get lucky, depending on the game and tool combination.

I don't think bin2boot has ever screwed up for me (although, it's been ages since I've burned a DC game). The only time I've had some difficulty using it is when the game contains separate audio tracks.

Thanks for all the help everyone. I think I'll give those 1 click solutions a shot, and while I'm at it, I'll search for cdi versions of the bins I have just in case.
