Super Castlevania IV - Passwords (Image I created)

Super Castlevania IV - Passwords

Looking up passwords for this game is annoying for me because I don't have the stage numbers memorized. Some sites give descriptive names for the levels, but those names aren't in-game and usually don't match the names that I gave these levels in 1993 so they don't do me any good. So I thought it would be good to have a screen shot of each level besides the password screen for it, that way I can easily tell which password I need to continue where I left off.

I made the image 1920 pixels wide, so at full resolution it will take up the entire width of a 1080p screen. The idea is to scroll down through it, like it was a webpage.

edit: I made one that's formatted better for a cell phone:

I really like Ziggy's method. Sure beats the drawings I put in my notepad while playing through it years ago.

In this modern age I use my phone to cap a password when I'm quitting for the day.

Same here, but in CV4 you have to lose all your lives and get a game over to view the password. Which is very annoying because I mostly gain lives instead of losing them, so it's usually a pain in the ass to get to the password screen if I want to take a break.

Neat.
Bloodlines is a bit more forgiving since it shows you the current password between stages.

The Japanese version, Vampire Killer, does not show the password between stages. The North American version doesn't have unlimited continues like every other Castlevania game does, which is why they have to show you the passwords between stages. Otherwise you'd have to waste a continue just to get the password. I don't know if Vampire Killer has unlimited continues or not, but I definitely remember that it doesn't show the passwords between stages.

Speaking of, I always hated that Rondo of Blood only lets you save at a game over. I wish it saved between each stage, because if I want to stop playing and not lose progress I have to get a game over. But the game counts the game overs on your save file.

I made another version that's better formatted for a (portrait oriented) cell phone or tablet.

Very cool!

Nowadays I just use save states in place of passwords but if I was going to use a password I would want it to look like that.
