I think I bought a fake DS game on ebay

I think I bought a fake DS game on ebay

Post by Curlypaul »

I got my wife My Sims ans I'm fairly convinced its a bootleg - no serial number on the cart, cart feels flimsier than normal, label on the cart is lopsided, the printer ink was running out when the manual was printed etc etc. Its was from hong kong and very cheap and I should have known better really.

Question is what would you do now? I mean it plays and saves ok but I'm still miffed that I've paid good money for a fake. The seller refuses to pay postage if I return it, but cant I raise a dispute with pay pal and force a refund? thats what I read in one of the ebay guides about fak stuff for sale on there but how do I prove to paypal that its a fake? I doubt they would care anyway

Same thing happened to my friend. I'd say ask for a refund, sometimes the sellers will give the money back because they know they could be reported. Either way, you should report them to eBay if they refund you or not.

Yeah I just sent them a message, I was sitting here fuming about it and I felt incense to tell them what I thought:
This game is a cheap fake. It had me fooled for about 2 mins. I am not happy.
I'm not going to return the item as I have seen your feedback and I have seen that you will not refund the cash so what are you going to do?
If I am not happy with your response I'll raise a dispute with paypal, report you to ebay and post your username on all the major game forums.
So I'll wait and see what they say, if anything and them start moaning to ebay. I've never had abad experience with ebay until now. I feel soiled

One of the options when you open a dispute with Paypal covers getting fake items. I'm not sure how far you have to go to prove your case. I've had to open a couple of disputes through paypal and the seller always caves in immediately.

I've been sent loads of knock-off GBA games from ebay, I never did anything about them though as they were dirt cheap. Kinda crappy though.

I'd have filed a Paypal dispute as soon as I realized it was fake. But, if you still have the packaging, you could put it back in and write return to sender on it, and no harm done. If not and he won't pay return shipping, it doesn't go back. Complain to ebay and have them work with him if he disagrees.
