Shining Force

Post by kgcarini »

Wow, I wish I would have played this game during the genesis hayday. It is a great old school RPG! I have been playing it for a couple of days. If your a fan of old school RPGs, I definitly recommend Shining Force for the genesis! :)

Definately my favorite rpg on the Genesis. It was one of the first genny games i played back in the day and it changed my life!!! To bad my crack-head (at the time) of a brother sold all my games when I moved out of the house! The 2nd is awesome as well. I finally re-bought them and scored a complete of 1 for 12 bucks on ebay and a week later i got 2 for 20. I've never seem them go for less.....guess some good karma for getting ripped off by by brother.

Ooh! I love Shining Force! I was first exposed to it from a friend who had the PC port, then later I played it all the way through on the Dreamcast "Sega Smash Pack." I own the original Sega Genesis cart now (hooray for Goodwill.)

Shining Force II is also pretty good, in a "more of the same" way of course. No real graphics changes... storyline is sorta similar... but it has some new characters and music and it's still loveable.

The one you REALLY want to look into is Shining Force III on the Sega Saturn. That game is amazing.

I've played Shining Force, Shining Force 2, Shining Force CD, and all three scenarios of Shining Force 3 to completion too many times to count. These games absolutely never get old for me.

I even played the GBA remake of number one. I have been dying for them to release a new Shining Force strategy game for years but it seems the powers that be can't convince themselves what a good idea that is. I recommend Shining Force to anyone.

I even considered buying a Wii just so I could download Shining Force on virtual console. That would be a lot of money just for Shining Force though. Unfortunately 5 years ago when my dad was cleaning out our family's basement he tossed our model 1 genny and shining force 1 and 2. A sad day.

Nope! Shining Force CD is the 2 game gear games on one disc with improved graphics. They are fun, but it's just battles and shops, no maps or villages to explore.

Why oh WHY won't SEGA release a real Shining Force game?! They were so popular and yet all we get is Neo and Exa?

At LEAST re-release the Saturn games so that we can have episodes 2 and 3 in English.

Yep. It's a dang shame. They could have easily done it on the PS2, but instead we got two sub-par releases. SEGA hasn't been making anything decent lately, so the least they could do is re-release some quality stuff from the past. I'd love to see an updated Shining Wisdom or Shining the Holy Ark too.
