Great site

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Great site

Post by strideristhebest »

Hi everyone, my name is Darran and I'm the editor of Retro Gamer, a mag that hopefully some of you have heard of.
Anyway, I just wanted to say that I really enjoy this site and hope to hang out here as long as time permits.

I read Retro Gamer a lot and it's a pretty good magazine. If this is the real Darran Jones then keep up the good work and lets have some features about SNK's fighting games please, especially titles like The Last Blade and Mark of the Wolves.

This is indeed the real Darran Jones :)

We've already done a great piece on the king of fighters (Falcoon drew exclusive art for me) and there's a top 25 beat em ups in the next issue.

I think it's still available in certain Barnes and Nobles. Otherwise you can order it directly from us (although I'd imagine that's going to cost a bit...)

This is almost as cool as when what's-his-face from Botch joined the GuitarGeek forum.

I'm not very familiar with Retro Gamer, simply because I don't live in the UK. Guess I'll have to hit up the B&N one of these days and keep an eye open for it.

Hi Darran,

When I was in the UK I got a couple of issues, but I didn't follow the story for a while, I vaguely remember the mag going under for some months, then back up with a new publisher (I may be wrong here?).

The issues I got were before the problems, I don't know if you were editor back then. I know one of the issues had some stuff on the Amiga, and the cover disk had WinUAE and (IIRC) the A500 kickstart ROM.
When I did the "How to" guide on WinUAE, I really wanted to figure a way to give out the A500 kickstart so more people would try it - do you know how the mag got Cloanto to let you guys have it on the cover disk?

Anyway, welcome!
Ivo.
