Nominate the Best 2D/Retro Games of 2017

I used to do year-end round-ups of the best retro releases of the year. A lot has changed since those days -- a lot more indie and revival stuff.
I've also been out of the loop a lot this last year, so I'm hoping you guys can make some nominations and we can work together rank them

I know it came out 2 years ago on XBO but was released this year in the west and on PS4. Raiden V is awesome. not as good as IV but loved it.
I supposed Wild Guns Reloaded doesn't count because it was released end of Dec 2016.
Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap remake is pretty great and maybe the only genuine game I can name for 2017.
Ghost Blade HD is pretty good tho not sure of the original release year. I just got the LE from Play Asia that released a few months ago.

I wish I could count Undertale and Ys Origin physical release on PS4 as they would be up there as well.

are all really good, and all of them were released for the first time in 2017. I know that:

Metroid: Samus Returns
Super Mario Run

are both pretty great, and both of them were released for the first time in 2017 too.

Blaster Master Zero seems like a best choice. I know it's not possible for some others despite the year they debut (2017) on a Nintendo format but stuff like Axiom Verge and Stardew Valley would fit as they're shortly hitting/already hit the Switch.

I was going to say Sonic Mania, but that game is not perfect...However Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap remake is, this game is just special, my vote goes to Monster Land.

The best 2017 retro styled game I've played is Shin Megami Tensei: Synchronicity Prologue. It is an awesome metroidvania. More people need to play it. I beat it in Japanese, but there's an English fan trans out there.

Aside from that, Blaster Master Zero and Samus Returns are very nice.

Edit: Gonna have to add The Mummy Demastered too.

Off the top of my head.

I think Cuphead may be the best gameplay of the three, but Sonic Mania was a miracle and hit all the right notes, so I'd put it on top.
