Trying to define this so that I can put up a post in the right forum area and start collecting data for an article idea.

Action adventure, and I need to send you some information. Care to email me at my gmail account? It is fairly easy to figure out.

it's not an RPG because it lacks the customization and ability-specific "leveling up" i think. imo, anyway. i'd call it adventure something or other.

Zelda 2, while one of my favorite Zelda games, actually isn't much of a Zelda gameplay-wise. So I'm going to have to say it's sort of outside the scope of this poll.

Although, frankly, I'd love some good Zelda 2 clones/alternative, cause the game kicked ass.

Zelda was better balanced and never got so underwhelmingly easy as SOTN. As much as I've played and enjoyed SOTN, I have an awfully large number of beefs with it.

Pretend it's not a Zelda game and you'll enjoy it. It was definitely ahead of it's time. Above average graphics, addictive character raising system, catchy music, tight responsive controls, and a real challenge. My main complaint was the lives system.

If you enjoy a game....does it matter what genre its in?

I think that it's genre is Zelda though.
