The wife's been asking for some sort of light for her Game Boy. Currently she uses a Game Boy Color, and she's looking for an upgrade. She does *not* find the GBA SP comfortable. I have a knockoff GBA with a backlight mod, but she doesn't like it, says it hurts her thumbs.
So, I was thinking about getting a Game Boy Light. I think it'd be cool to have one of these anyway, but I'm worried she'll want to play one of the Zelda Oracle games or Wendy Every Witch Way or something. I don't have very many GBC-only games (besides those three, Mario Golf and Tennis and Toki Tori, and I think that's it). Anyone have one of these? Opinions? How does it compare to a GB Boy Color (the Chinese knockoff) or even a modded Game Boy Color? If the latter is the best option, which mod should I go for?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Game Boy Light v. Alternatives
The legit Nintendo made GB Light is the same and as comfy as using a GB POcket, but it has that indiglo light up screen is all. Then you have the GBC, same power source/draw really as the GBP and GBL, but also not lit up. THere is that knockoff asian GB Boy Color but it's aftermarket chinese stuff with a lot of stolen rom in it already and can run carts, but I'd say probably 1% of them will have an issue so read around.
Personally I picked up an interact (not nyko) worm light which has a passthrough on it if you ever link up. It also will work with all the GBP, GBL and GBC handhelds the same. It has a soft ultra bright white LED light that works fantastic. I just set it above the view area of the screen, lights everything well and keeps the reflective dot of the light out of the view area. Not perfect, but works quite nicely and requires no power source other than the GB itself. Another choice and NOT sold at least far as I can tell in the US is a combo 2 light+magnifier unit that works again on all 3 variant of the GBs I noted, but seems to only come from EU vendors. It's called the light master -- here's a cheat link to see it on ebay --> http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=light+master+gameboy+color&_sacat=0

If you don't require passive matrix blur, get a GB Boy Colour. 99% compatibility, and an awesome screen in the classic form factor. Also cheap.

There is this...

I had one as a kid, and it worked brilliantly. But I don't know if it would fit the Game Boy Color. It might?
I think the simplest solution is to give her a DS Lite with GameYob running off a flashcart. It's a fantastic emulator and the DS Lite has a great screen.

I heard there was an issue with resolution, stretched out, maybe? What's incompatible with it?

The DS when we owned it was fantastically uncomfortable.

Ex: I have that and without some kind of modifications it won't fit the GBC. The mag light I mentioned will but I'm using the led light currently.

Both of these puppies were great. I loved them.

Yeah, I second Blu's second suggestion. That thing got me through a lot of nights when I was supposed to have gone to bed.

Which one? The "Worm" has quite a few really negative reviews on Amazon. How good are these two in a lit room as opposed to darkness?

If you don't mind plunking down the cash this thing seems pretty well reviewed:
