The Dungeon Master has moved on

Post by fastbilly1 »

I know the news is many hours old, but Gary Gygax is just that important. As you may have heard the great Dungeon Master himself has moved on from this world after a long struggle with several illnesses. I only had the honor to know him for about a year, so yes I lied in the opening to the Final Fantasy article shh, but he was the kind of person that if you talked to him for five minutes you would have known that he was as wise as they come. And he was more than happy to share his wisdom or just a story.

I cannot think of where I would be without his work, I know that many others think the same way. Not only was he brilliant, he let us into his imagination and let us run wild. It was a gift that I will never take for granite ever again. I just wish I got to talk to him more, learn more of his wisdom. There is now a hole where there was a great teacher, even with an army we will not be able to fill it.

What, did he fail a saving throw vs. death magic?

This is truly sad. While Dave Arneson lives on (and even teaches game rules at Full Sail), Gary Gygax was always the most strongly associated with D&D. He will be missed.
