Ok, this has me worried (regarding 360 repair status)...

Post by Flak Beard »

I sent my 360 in to get repaired, and have been keeping up with status via the Xbox website. For the past couple days it said "device has been received at service center", but I went to check today it is says I have no registered devices! Does this mean they switched me out with a new serial number console? I haven't received any emails saying they've shipped it back to me.

I really don't want to have to get on the phone with these guys. :(

yeah calling them does suck, it could be that they couldnt repair your system so they are sending you a new one with a new serial number. Or they decided to not let you ever play your xbox again.

Well as long as you have proof of sending your xbox to them and proof that they received it you are covered. Even if they have lost it, you will be able to get your xbox 360 back be it the same but repaired or a new one. I'd just give them a ring and see if you can chase the status up, just advise them that you are a bit worried because you can no longer track the repair of your 360 and would like a status update.

This happened to me last week. I waited a couple of days and then it changed to my new serial number and they shipped it to me.

They will almost never send you the same 360 that you sent in unless it is a really minor problem. And for me the whole process took only 8 days.

The problem is that the replacement consoles they send out are generally older. My original was made in Nov/06 but the one they sent me was made in Feb/06 which made it basically a launch console. In this case, you may not like the disc drive because some of the older ones are very loud (depending on the make).

The other problem with the replacements is that they seem to have an even higher ratio of failure. I had to send my replacement back to get a new one. But again, it only took 8 days from the day I called.

Calling them is frustrating, but you can get a status update just through the automated system; without talking to anyone.

Good luck!

I haven't received any updates yet and it's still showing as having no registered devices. Guess I need to get these tards on the phone tonight. I wish this would only take 8 days, I initially requested service on February 13th. So it's going to have been almost a month assuming I get my console next week. I have my doubts though. :(

Perhaps this is why I started retro gaming again. Never had my Genesis or SNES break three times in two years.

That sucks. I have to call them tonight too, I need to have them re-licence the downloaded content to my replacement console.

I had to go through that crap twice myself. The first time it took them three weeks to finally call me with a code to get all the MS points back. One of the items I had bought was an add-on for Oblivion, and by the time I got the points again, I had already beaten the game. I just ended up spending my points on new stuff, but half my XBLA games can't be played unless I'm connected to Live. I have a ton more now that won't be able to played (assuming I get a different console), but I don't know if I care enough to call to get reimbursed. It's just so tedious and aggravating, and it makes you not want to purchase DLC.

Also, I called today and they said the repair could be up to three weeks. I don't know, it sounded like the same old song and dance they do every time. She couldn't even tell me why it said "no registered devices" on the service site. It's like all they do is read off a cue card.

Yeah, they are totally reading from a script. I'm sure some of the people answering the phones don't even know what a 360 looks like.

It's been almost a week now, and still no change. MS is really starting to try my patience. I hate being an asshole on the phone, but I might have to call and get some answers tonight. This has just gotten plain ridiculous at this point.

I don't understand why everyone gets treated differently by Microsoft. Some people wait 6-8 weeks for their console while other people like me get lucky and only wait 8 days from the initial call.

Then look at the wireless wheel fiasco. August 24, 2007, MS says to stop using the force feedback (denying us the best part of the wheel). I filled out the form and mailed it in the next day. I waited until October before they responded...with a letter saying I will be getting a coffin in the mail to send the wheel to them. Then finally in January they sent the box. I never bothered sending in the wheel because it would probably take another couple of months to get one back. AND, the replacement will probably be one of the crappy ones that doesn't center or doesn't have a working d-pad.

And why the hell does it take 30 days to re-license downloaded stuff? It's okay since everything works as long as I'm signed in....except Streets of Rage 2!!!

And my rant continues...

The last time I called them they were asking all these questions to verify who I am so that I could get the downloaded content assigned to my refurbished console. Address, phone, whatever. Then they said I need to answer the security question, you know, like what is your mother's maiden name. This is a question that I was supposed to have set up. Anyway, they said the question: "What was your original name?"

I said, excuse me, I never set that question as my security question. And I never changed my name. My original name is my current name. And the guy on the phone said "No, your original name was something else." I told him that I'm pretty sure I know my own freaking name. He said: "It starts with A". I politely told him my name on my birth certificate, driver's licence, passport and everything in between has never been anything other than my name now.

Get this...he says: "You know, A, as in apple." I told him I know what bloody letter of the alphabet A is. He says "Are you sure you don't know your name?" So I completely lose it. My #%$ name starts with D you @##@!%%!

So I get put on with a supervisor and he says "What security question? We don't need that, you already gave us the serial number for your console." So what the hell was the first guy talking about.

Sorry. Long post.
