as I've been talking about over in the PC Build thread, I've been working on a bookshelf arcade stand setup the past few weeks. The idea is to have a setup that boots directly into Steam's Big Picture Mode and is able to be navigated completely using arcade sticks - no keyboard and mouse required.
However, BPM is really picky about controllers. The interface was built with the 360 pad and Logitch F310 in mind. That's it.
I have a Hori RAP VX-SA (360 stick) that works fine to play games. But Steam's Big Picture Mode will not recognize it at all.
Before you ask: going into BPM's Settings menu doesn't help - Steam is just not even seeing a controller as being connected.
I've done Googling and can't find that anything like Joy2Key or whatever would even help. We are not trying to emulate keyboard controls here. And I worry about buttons being "double pressed" once the game launches anyway.
I looked into x360ce and that seems like a dead-end as you have to put the DLL file into the same folder as the EXE you are trying to run. You can't put it into Steam's folders as Steam will just over-write it.
So..... with all this in mind, I'd like to compile a thread of arcade sticks being tested in BPM's UI. What I'm asking is that you guys plug in your sticks, open steam, switch to Big Picture Mode and then tell me if you're able to navigate Steam using just the stick or not. Please report here the exact model of your arcade stick including if it is a PS3 or 360 version and let us know the results.
Thanks!!
Please see if your arcade sticks work w/ Steam Big Pic Mode

Tekken 6 HORI wireless Xbox 360 controller, sadly, does not work. Some inputs work, but it's too wonky to navigate and there is no directional option.
I futzed with it for some time and got the mapping configured and working great, but it dumped everything even though I saved and named. Since then, it spams left or right and is completely unusable.

yeah that was about what happened with my Hori RAP as well. I was finally able to get it to work via the button config, and it kind of worked. Then after re-booting a couple times, the profile was lost. Just really annoying. For now I'm disabling BPM and just leaving a trackball plugged in to choose a game from the library. Not ideal, but I'd rather skip extra headaches until I can find a stick that'll work without issue in BPM.
