NES shows no color
NES shows no color
Hi, recently I bought an NES and when I took it home and hooked it up to my tv, everything worked fine...except there was no color. I'm using AV cables and an hdtv, anyone know the cause of the problem or how I can fix it? Like I said before the sound works fine, and I can see the game, it's just in black and white.

Re: NES shows no color
Do you have an old school tube tv? You may have to try it there first.
Its possible that the signal isn't strong enough for that newer HDTV to have it in color.
Or if you have the classic RF cable, try it there on the TV and not through the AV ports.

I don't have a tube tv or an rf cable. I don't think the problem is that the signals are too weak because I also have a Genesis hooked up to my tv and that works fine. I'll try buying an rf cable and seeing if that works

Are you plugging the yellow cable into the green (or yellow) connection?

Re: NES shows no color
I know a guy who had this problem with his Wii over composite. Turned out he didn't have the video (yellow) cable plugged in deep enough, it was only partially inserted. Not saying that's OP's problem, but hey it's worth double checking anyway.

Yes the yellow is in the yellow and the red is in the red.

I checked the cables are in deep enough.

Could this be a problem with the system? Is there anything that would make an NES play with no color?

Possibly, but first, do you have another TV you could test this NES with? If you don't, do you have a friend who would let you test it with their TV?
