Let's talk about what we do with games we've already beaten. The poll questions say it all to start things off. But here's a few more:

Do you think it's worth buying physical games today?

Do you think of buying games as an investment or just a hobby?

Is it ethical to hold on to games you've already beaten, if you never plan to play them again?*



*Theory being since physical games are of limited quantity, every dust collecting one sitting on a shelf unplayed, is keeping someone who might actually want to play it from doing so.

Oh, man, those poll options. I think "collector" is just a nicer term for hoarder, so I gotta figure out which one I should choose if I'm honest with myself.

In fact, all four of those top options have a ring of truth for me.

There is definitely a distinction between collector and hoarder.

A lot depends on quality of the game. If I did not like the game much, I may sell it, but if I loved it, I probably keep it.

That's why I ask the hard questions. Look inside yourself for the answer that rings true 9 times out of 10, and choose wisely.

It depends on the game. There are some games I really freaking love and could never get rid of. I will always have a copy of Catherine in my possession for instance. Arcade style games like fighting and racing games - those ones you can pick up and play really easily I like to keep around too.

On the other hand. When I was real into Call of Duty - I'd trade the year old copy for the new one once it came out.

Of course with digital games you don't really get much of a choice so a huge portion of the games I own are stuck with me until they get delisted by the publisher in 5 years.

The nice thing about GOG is that even when the games are delisted from the store, you keep your access to them if you had purchased them previously. I thankfully still have the Descent trilogy and the likes of XIII on my account thanks to this.

As for me, I tend not to sell games I've acquired, though recently I've begun looking into it and sold some Saturn titles to noise. But the reason for this isn't actually because I want to hoard the games. It's actually that I hate going to the post office.

Which services actually remove them from your library? Besides a few instances of PSN doing it, I can't recall losing access to a digital game I paid for.
