Anyone experienced with configuring/setting up home servers?

Anyone experienced with configuring/setting up home servers?

Post by Ghudda »

Curious to know if anyone here has much experience with homelab setups or home servers. I just picked up a Lenovo TS140 and am looking to use it as a NAS (network file storage) and for Virtual Machines, but I'm extremely new to the server world and need some advice on how to configure everything. Anyone familiar with current popular hypervisors and NAS servers?

Edit: Aditionally, if anyone is familiar with OS's like Proxmox or SmartOS, get at me!

I am not super up to date on it - the last sixish months Ive mostly handled hardware. I know several other members are System Admins, Coders, and Integrators. If you have some specifics there should enough general knowledge here to get you going in the right direction.

Anything I dont know, I will ask my software guys when they come in the office.
