Another one just closed yesterday for a mere $80. Someone tonight wanted that game BAD!
Holy crap! (ebay price for a Sega CD game)

ive been seeing alot of games going up in price since last year, seems like last christmas so much was bought out that everything has been more in a shortage than ever.

Wow, closing at $217.50. I am a huge retro fan but no game is worth that much. Just download it play it, beat it and then you will get bored of it. I mean for that price you could nearly buy a new console. If you are an obsessed collector, then I could understand. Me personally I just like to play the game and could care less what format or how rare it is, but that's just me.
Recently they have fairly consistantly been going for around $105-$110. The one that went for $80 the other night was the lowest I've seen in a while.Anayo wrote:Holy crap is right! When I looked at this topic I thought, "Yeah, probably some noob who's never seen a copy of Snatcher on eBay before..." but then I actually looked at the auction. I've never seen a copy of Snatcher go for more than $100, much less $214!
i paid $200 for a gem mint copy of Radiant Silvergun 2 years ago, and im still happy with my purchase. At least that game is worth around $200 however, i can always get my money back if i wanted to.retro_gammer79 wrote:Wow, closing at $217.50. I am a huge retro fan but no game is worth that much. That's great, I was just saying me personally. However, thee is one thing you are wrong about. You can not always get your money back. Remember, with all collectibles it's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. You have to find some one who is willing to pay what you did. That can greatly fluctuate and be more or less. Treasure games always seem to be in demand but what if they make a port to a modern console of the exact game or the WII virtual console, then that would drop the value.claudio wrote:i paid $200 for a gem mint copy of Radiant Silvergun 2 years ago, and im still happy with my purchase. The bottom line is you are happy with your purchase regardless of the resale value.
yeah, your right, i cant always get my money back, but im keeping this one either way its my personal treasure out of my whole collection.
i dont really buy to many expensive games, but i think radiant silvergun is the holy grail of sega saturn (in my opinion), and i love it. actually taramaru is the holy grail, but i didnt like it to much, very pretty game however, it usually goes for around $400.

I buy a few rare games. For instance, I've got Shining Force III and Dragon Force for my Sega Saturn. What I'm interested in is PLAYING these awesome games, though. I bough them DISC ONLY, and for Dragon Force I lurked for months on end until I saw a very cheap one (23 USD to be precise.)
I have somewhat of a hard time understanding people who pay in blood for shiny, complete copies of games. Isn't thriftiness is one of the things that makes retrogaming so much fun? (like funding rare/fun things at goodwill or yardsales or whatever.)
Then again, I'm not really one to complain, since I've sold things to these people before and made money (like a mint copy of Link: Faces of Evil someone's getting ready to pay me $60 for on eBay
)
(PS, another way to get fun games cheaper can be to get the Japanese version. Needless to say this is only a good idea to do for non-text reliant games unless you've got mad kanji skillz. I've taken this approach to get Panzer Dragoon Zwei for $5 and House of the Dead for $10, though.)
