Any Buffy fans here?

Post by Gamerforlife »

Anyone following the season 8 comics? News just came out about an upcoming issue where something VERY cool happens. Let's just say it involves Buffy meeting a very special Slayer. If you don't mind spoilers check out the picture below. I think only hardcore Buffy fans will know who that is

I'm a big Buffy fan, but I haven't read any of the comics. I really should, I hear they are great.

I saw the first few seasons when it aired originally, and now I'm rewatching them when I have time. Great series. Can't say I've given the comics a chance though. Don't get me wrong, I love comics, but Buffy comics was never my thing. How much involvement does Joss have in them?

Well Joss has pretty much the same amount of involvement with the comics that he had with the tv series. He's laid out the overall plot for the season, and steps in from time to time to write an issue or two. The comics have been called the official eighth season of the show.

There is also a series called Angel: After the Fall which is officially season 6 of that show(which is a part of the Buffy universe). I know it's weird calling comic books "seasons". Basically, they are part of the canon established by the shows. Joss is a bit less involved with the Angel series as he doesn't seem interested in writing any issues and has only assigned one writer to it(Brian Lynch). However, he did hand pick the writer for that series and has collaborated with him in laying out the plan for the series. Angel: After the Fall is supposed to be an epic mini-series, though there is indication that the Buffy books may go all the way to seasons 9 and 10.

I'm enjoying both books right now, though I'm a bit more of an Angel fan than a Buffy one.

For you Firefly fans, I believe Joss has written some comics set in that universe as well. I plan on looking into them eventually.

You know it occurred to me that those of you who have no experience with the Buffy universe outside of the tv show may not know who is the girl in that picture I linked to. If you want me to spill the beans, do a google search on

SPOILER ALERT

Melaka Fray, and if any of you have watched Buffy's seventh season on tv or DVD, you should recognize the weapons.
