Gaming communities fade over time and some games do not really exist as they did when they were first new. There's no big competitive scene learning and sharing secrets about Darkstalkers nor is Starcraft: Brood of War the point of heated discussion. These games and the communities that shaped them have come and go and sometimes that's kind of a shame.

Team Fortress and TFC, so kids stop thinking TF2 is actually cool.

There was a UK based video game forum I used to frequent called CG Empire. I believe it was shut down because they couldn't afford to keep it up and operational.
The forum had a lot of self help articles about how to create your own game and other developer articles. Another thing I will say is that all the members were all VERY VERY nice and that is the main reason I enjoyed the site. They would even put nice emoticons at the end of every paragraph. Just ridiculous how nice they were. Man I miss that site.

I kind of miss the Working Designs forum. I was never a member, but I enjoyed lurking and stalking the RPG Critic's posts (something I still do actually

Nintendo's old internet community was absolutely FANTASTIC! Every summer they would have a Camp Hyrule event, which you signed up for, was a separate sight with forums and you would be put in a cabin, play flash games and enter art competitions and then have live interviews with Nintendo folks.
They also had a Sage system where if you were a very positive and helpful member of the community, you would have a triforce next to your username and would get extra benefits like free copies of games like Animal Crossing: Wild World months in advance and much much more. That place was seriously a lot of fun and really wish it was still there.

That is incorrect. Vsav community still exists today. As a matter of fact, the scene is perhaps stronger than its ever been.Erik_Twice wrote:There's no big competitive scene learning and sharing secrets about Darkstalkers...

Oh, make no mistake, If I could only keep membership on one forum, this is it.TEKTORO wrote:... I just like it here so I don't wanna be whored out every where.
But sometimes niche interests lead you elsewhere.

Sorry I just meant I don't like to join multiple forums, it would be too time consuming and confusing to remember which ones I belong to. I do agree specific interest are worth the fix and I generally find RB my favorite being my first joining to a community and all the classic talks here. I wasn't coming at you, sorry for any misunderstanding!nightrnr wrote:Oh, make no mistake, If I could only keep membership on one forum, this is it.TEKTORO wrote:...
